What drives Vancouver prices
Vancouver is Canada's largest port and the Pacific gateway for container and bulk freight. A Metro Vancouver transit tax adds to the pump price. The city has no major local refinery, so fuel arrives by the Trans Mountain pipeline from Alberta. Vancouver is also the western terminus of Hwy 1, the Trans-Canada. The port and the road network move container and bulk freight, and the tax and the pipeline supply are part of what carriers pay at the pump on the coast.
